A few days ago I was happy that I was going to go to my dentist to remove my braces! I was hoping to bite into a sandwich at fu6oor like any normal person! Once my dentist removed my braces he informed me that I should not use my front teeth for another 8 months! I want to say that I was devastated but I wasn’t! I sure was a little upset but what is another 8 months if I haven’t been using my front teeth for a year and half!

So no more braces but I do have to types of retainers to deal with.

The Excitement is Growing

This year I did something strange and different! I actually asked for 61 days off for my yearly vacation and I got it! When you actually calculate the days off I get 78 days off this year. Why?

61 days that are between the 2 eids
17 days are the ones work gave us for Eid Al-Fi6r and Eid Al-Ath7a
78 days total vacation time

I can’t wait! It’s going to be loads of fun and excitement!

RIP Leroi Moore (1961-2008)

I just found out last night that Leroi Moore, the saxophone player and one of the founding members of the Dave Matthew’s Band passed away. Leroi passed away August 19th of this year when I was in Sudan. August was such a hectic month and I couldn’t keep up with anything! I knew Leroi was in an ATV accident but I thought he was fine but turns out he wasn’t! His death is a great loss to the Band as well as saxophone players everywhere!

Wait till minute 4:43 for his solo!

Weekend at Sea

Hey y`all! I’ve been busy yet extremely lazy and that’s my reason for not posting. I’ve done a few things to post about and I will start posting soon. I will start today with the most recent thing I’ve done. This past weekend I finally got to go out to sea. I took my boat out to Kubbar on Friday and Saturday and I also went to Taylor’s Rock on Saturday. Kubbar was so much fun and not as crowded as people claim that it is. Maybe that’s because most of the Kubbar goers are out of the country! My brother, his friends and myself all had fun swimming, and enjoying rides on various inflatable devices such a donut. We also encountered a few dragon flies that decided to hang around my boat. As for Taylor’s Rock, the lace is cool for some but dull for others. Why? Taylor’s Rock is pretty much a Rock in the middle of nowhere with a huge trench all around it. For those who like to swim in cool waters then this is your place. For those who enjoy diving, snorkeling, spear gun fishing, this is your place as well. Keep in mind that the current at Taylor’s Rock is strong and it will pull you away from the boat quite easily so watch out. I will leave you with a few pics from the trip.

New Luggage

Last week I purchased new bags to use in my upcoming travels. I decided to get bags when I was out with The Purg running a few errands! We went into one of the suitcase stores in the Muthana complex and the salesman showed us the new line of Samsonite bags! These bags are amazing! The have 4 wheels which makes them easy to push/pull around, they have a brake system which keeps them in place when the bar is pushed downwards, aluminum wheels which as more durable than the plastic ones, and the list goes on! I got the whole set which consists of a large bag, medium sized one that can fit into the large bag, and the carry on! I liked the carry one the most cause of the way they integrated the laptop case. There are 3 ways you can carry the laptop case. The first is the pouch in the front of the bag, the second way is to carry it like a messenger bag, and the third way is to slide the arm into the back of the pouch keeping the laptop case on top of the actual carry on bag! Below you will find pics of the bags and I will add real pics of my bags once I get them back from the person who is making plastic covers for them.

Thursday was a day that was extremely busy, eventful, hurtful, and enjoyable all in one go! Work was extremely busy but got lots of things accomplished! After work I went to Shuwaikh to pick up my older brother’s trailer that got a new paint job. Dropped the trailer at the house and decided I should go to Marina Mall to pick something up. Before going to Marina, I stopped off at a gas station to check the air in my tires and that’s where I accidentally closed the tailgate of my SUV on my thumb! I managed to call a friend who happened to be a doctor and I rushed myself to the hospital trying to change gears with the hand that has the busted thumb. I got to the hospital and took care of my thumb (THANKS DOC) then headed towards Marina. I was supposed to pick up my new bags but they told me to wait. After about an hour my bag arrived and so I jumped into my car and headed to my tailor in Kuwait city. I tried on the shirt and suit I was getting and picked up my new dishdashas. While driving to the tailor my subwoofers stopped working so I went to the Kenwood store in Kuwait City hoping their technician could help me out but he said that I’d have to go to his brother in Shuwaikh who installed the system! Off I went to Shuwaikh and got that fixed. Finally got home and actually was able to relax for an hour where I took a nice hot shower then headed out to the Thursday Diwaniya. Below you will find the approximate time frame of these events.

7AM to 2:15 PM : Work
2:30 to 3:30 PM : Picking up the trailer and taking it home
3:45 to 4:15 PM : Injuring my thumb and getting it looked at by the doctor
4:30 to 5:30 PM : Samsonite Marina
5:45 to 6:00 PM : Tailor
6:15 to 6:45 PM : Subwoofer repairs
7 PM to 8:00 PM : Showered and relaxed
8:15 to 11:15PM : Diwaniya

For my readers who can’t read Arabic and would like to know what this post is all about, well some MPs who are in a Parliamentary Committee are proposing a bill that will let Islamists tell the Kuwaiti population what they should and should not be doing! The highlighted box in the pic above is the heading I read in this morning’s paper!

!!! THEY MUST BE (add foul language here) KIDDING !!!

If this bill goes through, I send out my deepest condolences to the people of Kuwait! Why? Because our beloved Kuwait is losing it’s uniqueness and losing all the things it used to be proud of prior to the 1980’s and especially the Islamic take over after the 1990-1991 Gulf War. I do not think other Gulf nations will be following our footsteps any more like they used to do before.

Help Me Decide!

I’m working on accessorizing my Land Cruiser and now it’s time for me to get a roof rack! The only issue is which one should I get! I decided that since getting a good after market roof rack from ARB or African Outback is too expensive and that the ones found in Shuwaikh are cheap when it comes to construction and durability. Therefore, I have decided to get it custom made by a local blacksmith that specializes in roof racks! The following 3 items show the designs I was thinking of going with! Which one would you choose?

Parliment Rant!

It’s common knowledge that yesterday was the first meeting that the Kuwaiti Parliament had after elections. We already started off with having a group of elected reps who forecasts foresee that they won’t do much difference but we will stay optimistic. Yesterday everyone who was watching the swear-ins has officially seen the first signs of mental imbalance or in other words total lack of good upbringing, education, respect, and everything else! In my humble opinion all those who walked out of the swear-in MUST be removed as members of parliament and replaced by others! Oh and before I forget, those who make it a big issue for female members of parliament or ministers to wear head scarfs should also be removed. Come to think of it I think they are the same people! I get hurt when I see closed-minded people in our community that cannot respect other people even in the smallest items called personal choice!

A Dream and Future Plans!

Very rarely do I have dreams while I sleep! I know most doctors might disagree with me so let me rephrase and say, “I rarely remember dreaming when I wake up and always think that I have dreamless nights!” Last night though was different! Why? Well before going to bed I was talking to a friend of mine about the good old days in the US and I told her that I am planning to visit the US for a month and a half towards the end of this year for school reunions and homecoming!

I woke up this morning with a grin on my face and I vividly remember the dream I had. I went back to the US and saw my friends. We then went to the club we used to go to back in college (the place has shut down a few years ago) and we partied there all night like just like in the video below :

In my dream though the rave got busted but the cops and even thought the cops busted the party (as shown in an example at minutes 5:20 in the video below) my friends and I all went to an after party and I felt like I was reliving my college days.

I don’t think this will happen when I go back this year since all such rave events have seized to exist. My plans so far start with leaving towards the beginning of October and coming back towards mid November. I have a high school reunion October 10-12 and college homecoming on October 31 to November 2. Between those dates I’ll be driving the interstates of the North Eastern States. As for after homecoming I’m most likely going to Vegas for this years SEMA Show.

It’s Official!

I am officially a certified communications device user! What does that mean? Well that means I took the course on how to properly use a VHF/UHF communication device and took the required test. I passed that test and my paperwork went to the Ministry of Communication who then transfered them to the Ministry of Interior to get and OK for me to become a certified user. I actually got my certification and now I have a device installed in my car and using it without fear of being pulled over. Thanks for the guys at the local Amature Radio Society for putting together the course and doing the paperwork for me.

Now I am using the ICOM -V8000 in my car and loving it! My next purchase is a hand held unit called the Yaesu VX-7R but not in silver. I actually want the black version Yaesu VX-7RB.

Summer Changes and Purchases!

Seems like summer is finally here and the weather is stabilizing a bit! I hope we do not get any more sand storms or dust. In order to prepare for the summer I changed something in my car and bought a few things for my boat!

I have officially taken the sheep wool off the front seats of my car and had a place in Shuwaikh made custom water proof seat covers so that whenever my friends and I go out to sea or get wet we can get into the car and not worry about getting the seats all wet.

Week in Review!

Well last week I was on a business trip and everything went well! When I came back things got really hectic! Places to be, people to meet, and things to do! I’m going to try to remember what I did but my memory isn’t as good as it used to be anymore!

Saturday : Spent time in Shuwaikh getting my Land Cruiser repaired and helped a friend out when it came to getting a car.

Sunday : Work, shopping, and Edo!

Monday : Work, took my car to a mechanic to get things fixed and then elections!

Tuesday : Work, Zain exhibition, boat show and family.

Wednesday : Work, airport, Zain exhibition, Proud 2 B Kuwaiti exhibition, and family.

Today : Work, then I’ll be going to the Zain exhibition, maybe the boat show and diwaniya.

You might want to ask why I went to the Zain exhibition alot and that is due to the fact that people (friends and family) keep asking me for bluetooth devices. Just a few random pics :

Driving After The Storm

Most, if not all of you, know that a freak incident occurred in Kuwait last Friday (April 11, 2008) when a storm landed and caused major damage! I have had my share of experiences that night but I will refrain from talking about them, but I will share this video that I put together. Two of my friends and I went for a little ride after the storm and while I was driving one of them took a few video clips. Here are a few of them put together in a short video.

Cars Update!

I think I’m ready to be adopted by a rich family!

Since I didn’t have anything to do yesterday evening I decided to go out and take care of business! In yesterday’s post I wrote about things that needed to be done for both the Range Rover and the Land Cruiser. Well, the Range Rover is complete with new tires, new insurance, and a 6 month service (Total Cost approx. 1000 KD)!

As for the Land Cruiser, I called up the carpenter who’s going to work on the drawer system and he said he wanted to see the car on Saturday for final measurements so he can start! I went out and got a few other things needed to finish the audio set up! You’ll see it when it’s done! Hopefully that will be sometime next week!

My Cars and Projects!

RANGE ROVER
Since the Range Rover isn’t selling at the price I was hoping for I have decided to do the following.
1) Take it to the dealership for it’s 6 months service and a clean up.
2) Renew the insurance.
3) Change the tires.

1 and 2 are done and I just have 3 to go, which should be done this afternoon or towards the end of the week.

LAND CRUISER
Anytime I could affording adding something to my baby I do. This time I have started the rear drawer storage system. The drawer system should look like the pic below when it’s finally completed with some differences.

I have also decided to start the audio system work on the vehicle by encorporating two 10″ subwoofers and an amplifer to the rear drawer system to resemble something that looks like the following :

Once that is done I would have to change the other speakers as well as the head unit. Another thing I am working on is my VHF/UHF certification in order for me to install a radio device in the cruiser. My certification exam is tomorrow and inshalla after that I get my certification from the ministry! Wish me luck!

Being Sick Sucks!

I’m stuck at home with a headache cause by a fever! I move slowly and feel weak! Sometimes when I move my eyes it kinda hurts! Does anyone know what could have caused this? Any doctors out there who can hint on something! I had other symptoms but they are going away slowly! To my visit to the doctor yesterday I was given some sort of anti-biotic pills as well as an injection! I’ve had this fever and the headache that followed it for the last 2 days!
