so...
here are some thoughts on the human condition that i've been playing around with. we are individuals with certain perspectives of our reality. these perspectives are subjective and ever changing according to factors that we interact with, as well as our perspectives themselves affect the factors that we interact with (i.e. reality, society, etc). We are magicians in the sense that through our own will, we can modify the state of our environment, like a magician in the mythical sense can "magically" make a rabbit disappear in a hat, while in reality there is compartments and illusionary methods that make the rabbit seem to disappear...but to the audience the rabbit has disappeared through this magic and thus it becomes true.
through our mentality we can shape an interaction or an event in a certain way. In other words, say you are having a terrible state of mind about something and you go to a gathering, the gathering will suck because you already presuppose it will suck. (this is sadly sounding like opera's bullshit the secret...but there is some sense behind it)
This is no different from many other philosophies, self-help books, religions, and theories out there. the trick ultimately lies on one's own ability to manifest the will to change.
now let us apply this to a larger sense, the world.
the world at the moment, and this is a feeling i've been having for the last five years, is facing something. what is it, is hard for me to articulate and clearly put my finger on, but there is a collective sense of apprehension underlining most of our lives. we are animals inherently after all, let us place the idea of human superiority aside for the moment (sure we have made cool things like the Internet or the reality shows but anyways), and we are driven to a mild degree by our animalistic nature, with the occasional sense of rationality. There is a collective consciousness that exists, to agree with Jung, between animals and humans. I apply the sense of collective consciousness with this loose feeling of Arabness...it may be an artificial creation but its resonance and its continually existence shows a sense of collectivism that lingers in the air and latches on to what we humans create. (the same can be said to peoples following of the nation, the leader, the religion, the economics, etc).
This
morphic field of learning exists in my mind, but at the moment it is manifesting itself negatively.
there is an underlining sense of failure, depression, war, and negativity in the world today. I feel it in Kuwait, Canada, and Great Britain. I've felt people say it to me, and I've read many artists, thinkers, politicians, writers, friends, and family say certain things about the future that all converges to this point: we are at the cusp of a major change. We are at the edge of a transformation that can go many ways...but there is a sense that things are getting...difficult.
is this the death of western civilization as many writers and thinkers put it, that can create this fear that the world will tumble. mind you there is an underlining sense of superiority here again about how great western civilization is and therefore its collapse is bad for us all...nevertheless, the end of the west if this is what it is, is not entirely a good thing nor is it a bad thing, what it means is a dramatic change for us all. the feeling of change itself creates dread because of our foolishness to hold on to the past. the holding on to the past after all creates a sense of security, because in virtue of being the past it is known and can be understood, while the future is the ultimate unknown and it frightens us.
i wonder if someone can find the statistic on the sum of all suicide rates in the world in order to see if there is a collective increase. that would make things curiously clearer to understand the collective state of humanity.
i do not know the solution to this. but perhaps this would take a major mobilization in order for all of us to think positively, in order to perform positive actions that therefore create positive change. this is applicable in one's own life, where in order to achieve something, they must think clearly and confidently at the necessary moments in order to act clearly and confidently, and thereby creating the cycle that will initiate that change, that in turn perpetuates positive thinking, and etc.
magic, presto, abracadabra.
so let's play here. say we have a mind game, dear reader.
say you take that moment to think of a positive thing to happen. within reason here, one wishes to be king or queen of the universe can not happen...or can it heh.
anyways, think about one positive thing to occur in your life, and keep that thought strong for the next couple of weeks, and then suddenly you will realize that you are acting for that change. the hard part is maintaining that thought, training it like a muscle, because your brain and thoughts are a muscle of sorts.
heres a nice trick i had to learn to work on my mental discipline.
think of a rose.
think of a white rose. or a red rose. whatever.
think of a rose, think of its shape, its color, does it have dew scattered on its leaves and petals? does it have a smell?
play with this image of a rose, but think of only this rose, and see if it can maintain there in your mind. at the beginning you will have a fuzzy image of the rose, and it will only stay there for a slight moment...the more you do this the longer the image of the rose will stay, the more vibrant the color, the more distinct its shape, and its reality will be whole and complete in your mind, it will be the only thing in your mind without any other thoughts crashing in.
that is mental discipline.
